Canadian gymnasts hope for success at FIG World Cup in Baku

Azerbaijan.baku.arenaThe Canadian rhythmic gymnastics team hopes to successfully perform at the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup, to be held in Baku, coach of the team Mira Filipova told reporters in Baku.

She said their preparations for the FIG World Cup took more than a year, adding they are happy to perform at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.

Filipova also praised the work Azerbaijan has done for sports.

The coach noted that everything is very well organized in the Baku arena and said there are no such large sports facilities in Canada as there are in Baku.

Baku will host the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup on April 28-30. Gymnasts from different countries will gather at the National Gymnastics Arena to demonstrate their mastery.

Participation of 92 gymnasts from 21 countries is expected in the event.

“Inner city” film will be shown at the South East European Film Festival in Los Angeles

“Inner city” to be shown in Los Angeles

“Inner city” film will be shown at the South East European Film Festival (SEEfest) in Los Angeles.

The film will be screened on April 27 – May 4, Report.az reported. The film will be demonstrated in the main competition program of the festival nominated for “Best Film”, “Best operator work” and “Audience sympathy” awards.

“Inner city” is a film in psychological drama genre, directed by Ilgar Safat. The storyline is about love of a young girl to Karabakh war veteran. The lead roles are performed by Tahmina Rafaella, Firdovsi Atakishiyev, Mehriban Zeki and Elmira Shabanova.

The film shooting took place in Baku and Zagatala regions of Azerbaijan. The feature film was produced by J.Jabbarli ‘Azerbayjanfilm’ studio under the order of the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Author of idea of the drama film is Tahmina Rafaella, script writer – Tahmina Rafaella and Ilgar Safat, production director – Ilgar Safat, production operator – Luka Koassin, designer Butunay Hagverdiyev, executive producer – Ulvi Gasimov, producer – Mushvig Hatamov.

“Inner city” was demonstrated at many film festivals, including  7th Yashwant International Film Festival in India, 38th Cairo International Film Festival in Egypt, 47th Indian International Film Festival (Qoa), 20th Tallinn Dark Nights Film Festival in Estonia, 21th Kerala International Film Festival in India.

Tahmina Rafaella was awarded “Best Actress” in 5th Van Lake International Festival in Turkey for her performance in the film.

SEEfest educates about and promotes cultural diversity of South East Europe through its annual presentations of films from this region and year-round screenings and programs. SEEfest organizes conferences and retrospectives, serves as the cultural hub and resource for scholars and filmmakers, and creates opportunities for cultural exchange between Southern California and South East Europe.

Azerbaijani actress Tahmina Rafaella has been nominated for the Best Actress award for her performance in Inner City at WorldFest-Houston, Azerbaijan Center in Houston posted on its Facebook page.

Как передает Day.Az со ссылкой на Trend, об этом сказала в четверг журналистам тренер канадской команды по художественной гимнастике Мира Филипова в преддверии Кубка мира по художественной гимнастике в Баку.

“У нас в Канаде нет таких больших спортивных сооружений, как в Баку. Здесь, в Национальной арене гимнастики, очень много ковров для тренировок. Все очень хорошо организовано. Мы очень рады находиться здесь”, – сказала тренер.

Говоря о тренировках канадской команды, Филипова сказала, что главная цель команды – показать чистое выступление и набраться опыта.

“Мы готовимся к этим соревнованиям уже больше года и очень рады, что будем выступать на этой арене. Хотим, чтобы зрители получали удовольствие от хореографии, и надеемся на успех на этих соревнованиях”, – добавила Филипова.

Очередной этап Кубка мира FIG по художественной гимнастике пройдет в Баку 28-30 апреля.

Представители самого изящного вида гимнастики из многих стран мира в очередной раз соберутся в Национальной арене гимнастики, чтобы продемонстрировать свое мастерство. В соревнованиях ожидается участие 92 гимнасток из 21 страны. 34 спортсменки будут выступать в индивидуальной программе, а 58 гимнасток примут участие в составе 10 групповых команд. Азербайджан на этих соревнованиях будут представлять серебряная и бронзовая медалистка Чемпионата Европы в юниорской программе Жаля Пириева, молодая гимнастка Зохра Агамирова, а также серебряные призеры Чемпионата Европы в составе групповой команды Сияна Василева, Диана Доман, Александра Платонова, Айшан Байрамова и Элиф Зейнеп Джелеп.

Согласно результатам квалификации, в первые два дня соревнований определятся победители в многоборье и финалистки по отдельным предметам как среди гимнасток в индивидуальной программе, так и среди групповых команд. А финалы будут проводиться в последний день турнира.

В течение трехдневных соревнований зрители получат возможность наблюдать за выступлениями как знаменитых гимнасток Азербайджана, так и многих известных спортсменок из стран ближнего и дальнего зарубежья. В соревнованиях примут участие Александра Солдатова (Россия) – двукратная чемпионка мира и чемпионка Европы; Зеликман Николь (Израиль) – бронзовая медалистка Чемпионата Европы. Команды в групповых упражнениях: Россия – чемпионки Олимпийских игр; Испания – серебряные призеры Олимпийских игр; Болгария – бронзовые призеры Олимпийских игр; Беларусь – бронзовые призеры Чемпионата мира.

Соревнования завершатся грандиозным гала-концертом.

Американский сервис онлайн-вызова такси UBER в Баку

Uber BakuКомпания Uber приступила к разработке собственного картографического сервиса, в который инвестировала 500 миллионов долларов.

Как передает Day.Az со ссылкой на Trend, об этом сказал в среду в Баку генеральный менеджер Uber по странам СНГ Алексей Стах на организованном для представителей СМИ пресс-завтраке.

“Его тестирование уже проводилось в некоторых странах. Правда, это тестирование пока не дошло до стран СНГ. Поэтому думаю, что в ближайшем будущем Uber начнет работать уже с собственным картографическим сервисом и существующие проблемы в навигации будут устранены”, – сказал Стах.

По его словам, продолжая работу над таким серьезным вызовом, как загрязнение атмосферы, Uber начал тестировать электромобили для использования их в своих сервисах.

В Азербайджане, как отметил глава компании, продолжится дальнейшее усовершенствование функционирующих сервисов UberX и UberSelect.

Генеральный менеджер сказал, что компания в будущем будет внедрять в Азербайджане и другие сервисы Uber.

“В настоящее время мы сконцентрированы на том, чтобы еще больше усилить качество и надежность текущих сервисов UberX и UberSelect, и это является приоритетом. Но, безусловно, как и любая компания, которая внедряет инновации, мы открыты и будем внедрять новые продукты и в Азербайджане”,- сказал Стах.

Говоря о достижениях компании в Азербайджане, Стах отметил, что на данный момент приложение скачали более 300 000 человек.

“Наблюдается еженедельный прирост новых пользователей, с нами работают тысячи водителей-партнеров. Средний рейтинг водителей – 4,82 из 5, среднее время подачи автомобиля – около четырех минут. Это очень хороший показатель”, – сказал генеральный менеджер компании.

Embassy of Azerbaijan celebrating the 90th anniversary of Mstislav Rostropovich

Embassy of Azerbaijan joins the American Russian Cultural Cooperation Foundation and distinguished guests in celebrating the 90th anniversary of Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich, a native of Azerbaijan, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC

Event was organized by the American-Russian Cultural Cooperation Foundation. Among the guests were Russian and Azerbaijani Ambassadors to the United States Sergei Kislyak and Elin Suleymanov, former US Senator Richard Lugar, as well as former World Bank President and President Emeritus of the Kennedy Center James Wolfenson and others.

Speaking of legendary cellist and conductor Ambassador Suleymanov said: “Maestro Rostropovich is a person who has united so many cultures, so many people, so many countries together by being himself”

Rostropovich was born in Baku, Azerbaijan during the Soviet Union era in 1927. He was of mostly ethnic Russian ancestry, and his father was partly Polish.

Rostropovich was internationally recognized as a staunch advocate of human rights, and he was awarded the 1974 Award of the International League of Human Rights.

A five-time Grammy Award winner, he has become one of the West leading conductors. For 17 seasons, he was the permanent conductor and artistic director of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, which was included in the list of one of the best American orchestras. Rostropovich appeared regularly in the Berlin Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as well as London Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic.

Representatives of the world music societies came together in New York to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Jevdet Hajiyev, a prominent Azerbaijani composer

Representatives of the world music societies came together in New York to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Jevdet Hajiyev, a prominent Azerbaijani composer on April 5.

The event took place at the famous Carnegie Hall as part of the “Express Yourself in Music” Gala Benefit concert for children with autism, Azertac reported.

This international concert brought together musicians, fans of the composer and young talents from all over the world.

Among them were composer Alexander Peskanov, conductor Miriam Burns, singers Bogdan Petrenko of Russia and Sabrina Ozden of Vancouver, virtuoso violinist Elvin Hoxha Ganiyev of Azerbaijan, performer on Azerbaijani folk instruments Jeffrey Werbock of the USA, pianist Jelena Makarova of UK and many others.

Young pianists Ashley Ondoua Konga, Roopa Ranganath, Julia Meyerding, Kenny Ji, Ksenija Yanchuk, Makalaya Duyen Vu demonstrated brilliant performances.

The notable guests of the event included Yashar Aliyev, the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations, Tofig F. Musayev, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations, Ambassador Agshin Mehdiyev, permanent observer for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the United Nations, members of the Azerbaijani communities of Florida, Ohio, Texas and many others.

The world premiere of A. Peskanov’s “Azeri Rhapsody” composed in memory of Jevdet Hajiyev and his beloved wife Amina Dilbazi prompted standing ovations.

The Carnegie premier of “Lay-Lay” lullaby of J. Hajiyev was performed by soprano Sabrina Ozden, Jeffrey Werbock (kamancha) and Pervin Muradov (piano) who provided a vivid example of a piece where Eastern intonations blend harmoniously with Western concepts and where organic fusion between classical forms and folk music led to an exceptional flavor.

Sabrina Ozden is also an Ambassador of cultural exchange and cooperation program among the Silk Road cities.

Extraordinary rendition of J. Hajiyev’s Scherzo by violinist Elvin Hoxha Ganiyev left no one indifferent.

English pianist Elena Makarova played a sonata for piano and also accompanied during the performance of “Scherzo” for violin. “Musical pictures” and “Ballad” were performed by young talents from four continents.

The conductors, orchestra and musicians managed to convey the full flavor, depth, and emotional experiences of the author.

The performers fully immersed in the images created by the composer, and thrilled the audience.

Jevdet Hajiyev left behind a legacy of masterpieces. Among them are eight symphonies, three tone poems, opera “Veten” (Motherland) written in collaboration with G. Garayev, string quartets, ballade and sonata for piano, solo and choral works and many others. These works are among the jewels of classical music that continue to delight listeners and glorify music of Azerbaijan all over the world.
