The employees of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora visited the “My Way” Child-Youth Development Center operating in New York

Committee staff visited the “My Way” Child-Youth Development Center in New York.

The employees of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora visited the “My Way” Child-Youth Development Center operating in New York, USA, and got closely acquainted with the activities of the school operating under the center.

Head of the “My Way” Child-Youth Development Center, Alyona Badalova thanked the State Committee on Work with Diaspora for the attention shown. She provided information regarding the activities of American children from diverse ethnic backgrounds enrolled in art and drawing programs.  She emphasized that the participation of the center’s students in various events helped them build self-confidence and contributed to their development through learning about the cultures of other nations.

The center’s artistic director, member of the Azerbaijan Union of Artists, painter-sculptor Emin Guliyev spoke about the students’ interest in the lessons at the “My Way” Children’s and Youth Creativity Development Center. He emphasized that even students who have never been to Azerbaijan manage to sensitively reflect the beauty of their homeland, its history, and cultural heritage in their artworks. He also noted that their paintings on themes such as Karabakh, Shusha, the Khari Bulbul flower, and the Maiden Tower have received awards at various international competitions.

Afterwards, the students of “My Way” Child-Youth Development Center whose works were showcased at the Novruz exhibition convened in Baku during the month of March, received accolades in the form of diplomas and commemorative gifts. The employees of the committee had a cordial conversation with them.

It should be noted that the “My Way” Child-Youth Development Center has been working to introduce the rich cultural heritage of Azerbaijan to the local and international communities for 14 years. At the center’s initiative, a football tournament named after the famous Azerbaijani football player Anatoly Banishevsky, Novruz festivities for children, and an art exhibition titled “With Love for Azerbaijan,” as well as ongoing classes and seminars on Azerbaijani dances for various communities in the US, were organized. The “Silk Road” International Festival organized by the center, was warmly welcomed by New York City Hall.
