On March 4, the first session of Oklahoma state’s legislative body of the 54th convocation passed a resolution to recognize the Khojaly massacre, AzerTag reported.

The document describes the nature of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and occupation of Khojaly by Armenian armed forces with the help of Russian troops and the subsequent killing of over 600 civilians by Armenian troops.

Taking the tragic incidents into account and commemorating the 21st anniversary of the Khojaly massacre, the Oklahoma State Senate adopted a resolution calling to send the document adopted by the House to the U.S. Congress, the State Department and the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan.

The resolution was introduced by Tom Ivester representing the 26th District of Oklahoma.
