Azerbaijanis gather in front of Armenian Embassy in Washington
Azerbaijani-Americans held a rally in front of the Armenian Embassy in Washington.
Members of the Azerbaijani community of Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas gathered to condemn the brutality of the Armenian armed forces against the residents of the town of Khojaly, occupied on February 25-26, 1992, as well as decried occupation of Azerbaijani lands and subsequent ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijani population of the occupied Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
Among the banners and signs used were “Condemn Armenian terror”, “Khojaly…Never again!”, “Armenian guilty of ethnic cleansing”, “Armenia, shame on you!”, “Armenia, leave Nagorno-Karabakh!” The protest in front of the Armenian Embassy is held annually by the Azerbaijani community of Washington, D.C., and is joined by the members of the Turkish-American and other ethnic communities, as well as Americans. At end of each rally, protestors leave a note of protest in front of the Armenian Embassy.
