A group of US congressmen, famous politicians and heads of oil & gas companies of various countries have sent letters of congratulations to president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev on the 20th anniversary of the Contract of the Century and the foundation of the Southern Gas Corridor.
According to the press service of SOCAR, oil and gas projects which play an important role in the energy security of Europe, as well as Azerbaijan`s position in the global energy market have been hailed in the letters.
In his letter, US congressman Thomas Marino stressed that the Contract of the Century, which has been signed 20 years ago has strengthened SOCAR`s and Azerbaijan`s important role in global energy market.
The congressman hailed efforts towards diversification of European energy sources, adding energy security is an integral part of economic security.
US congressman John Shimkus, in turn, stressed the importance of foundation of the Southern gas corridor, and hailed the efforts for diversification of energy sources.
