The Azerbaijani Embassy to the United States has hosted an event commemorating the 91st anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event brought together former commander of the US Transportation Command Duncan McNabb, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Washington, members of the Azerbaijani community.
Azerbaijani ambassador Elin Suleymanov provided an insight into development of Azerbaijan under national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The diplomat touched upon the national leader`s contribution to boosting and strengthening bilateral ties with the United States.
As part of the event, Mr. Suleymanov presented the 2014 award to Duncan McNabb for his major contribution to the U.S-Azerbaijan partnership.
Duncan McNabb highlighted his impressions about Azerbaijan, including his visit to the country and meeting with President Ilham Aliyev.
He praised cooperation with Azerbaijan, as well as support of “Silk Way Airlines” and Azerbaijani partners.
Duncan McNabb highlighted Azerbaijan`s potential as a regional transportation hub. He also stressed Azerbaijan`s strategic position in ensuring transport ties with Afghanistan.
