Azerbaijani Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov has met U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Eric Rubin.
The U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary congratulated Zakir Hasanov on his appointment as the defence minister of Azerbaijan and wished him successes.
Touching upon the military and political situation in the region, the Azerbaijani minister spoke of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He said Armenia`s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan impedes the peace process and has a negative impact on the situation in the region.
He praised the US-Azerbaijan relations in a variety of fields, including the military cooperation.
The sides exchanged views on other issues related to regional and bilateral cooperation.
U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar was also present at the meeting.
