A third-year student of the New York City University, Emil Ismayil was threatened by the employee of Azerbaijan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Farid Cabrailov. It happened on March 22 at the event in New York, organized by the Azerbaijani Diaspora in New York.

According to the student, Cabrailov attacked him and tried to hit him. However, the people separated them. According to Ismayil, the diplomat used to threaten him through his friends before because the student participated in the action in front of Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations to protest the pressure on youth activists in Azerbaijan.

The student appealed to the New York Police Department, and they promised to investigate the matter. Despite the presence the diplomatic immunity of Cabrailov, the student intends to punish him.

Turan has no comments from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations about the specified incident.
