The U.S. Senate held a briefing on Southern Gas Corridor by the participation of Jamestown Senior Fellow Vladimir Socor.
Azerbaijani embassy in the United States told APA-Economics that assistants of senators represented in the Senate Committees on Foreign Relations and Energy took part in the briefing.
In his speech, Socor spoke about the importance of the Southern Gas Corridor to Europe’s energy security and the crucial role of Azerbaijan in this project. He noted that the first delivery of Azeri gas to European market would help to reduce the current energy dependency of the continent.
Socor said that the Southern Corridor would not only bring economic benefit to the project participants, but also have a positive impact on the climate of security in the region.
“Southern Corridor is in the interests of the U.S. and needs the support of Washington,” added Socor.
