U.S. ambassador visits Ganja

As part of his trip to regions of Azerbaijan, the United States Ambassador Richard Morningstar has arrived in Ganja, the second largest city of the country.
After meeting with representatives of Peace Corps functioning in Ganja and a group of youths who studied in the United States, the diplomat has met head of the city`s Executive Authorities Elmar Valiyev.
Valiyev briefed the diplomat over achievements of the region in various spheres, including social, economic, agricultural, educational and cultural ones. He praised projects implemented in Ganja by the US embassy.
Morningstar, in his turn, expressed satisfaction with his first visit to Ganja, saying as an ancient city, Ganja has stirs up interest for him.
The diplomat stressed hope the US-Azerbaijan close cooperation would further be expanded, adding he especially prefers youth related projects.
The ambassador said when he meets talented, smart and intelligent youth, he becomes more certain.
During his trip to Ganja, Morningstar also took part in the opening ceremony of a new building of the Public Union “Bridge to Future”, and toured the facility`s training rooms. Here, a video clip featuring activities of the Union was demonstrated.
The ambassador also walked central square of Ganja, and visited the tomb of Javad Khan and Nizami mausoleum there.
The diplomat visited “Center of America” in the city`s central library. Morningstar met academic staff and students of Azerbaijan State Agrarian University too.
The ambassador also viewed “Nizami 870” exhibition.
