“Necessary signatures have been collected for the petition posted on “We the People” page of the White House’s official website to commemorate the victims of Khojaly massacre and get the response of the US President. Measures are being taken to respond to the petition. It is still early to say something about it,” US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar told journalists in Kurdamir, APA reports.

Ambassador said he has got information that innocent women, children and old people were killed in Khojaly.

“We understand the pains of these people. I want to assure you that we understand very well how painful the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is for the Azerbaijani citizens. We have detailed information about the pains, difficulties of the Azerbaijani people. The conflict has been lasting for more than 20 years. The process of resolution of this conflict is complicated and difficult. We are doing our best within the Minsk Group to find peaceful solution of the conflict. I have been closely working with the senior officials of Azerbaijan and US co-chair of the Minsk Group regarding this problem. We are working towards new ideas to achieve progress in the process. The resolution of the conflict is in the interests of all parties. But as you see, this is a complicated and difficult process. We should continue working together to solve this problem peacefully. We should increase our efforts,” he said.
