Azerbaijani Ambassador Continues Meetings in Alberta

As part of his visit to Alberta, Ambassador Farid Shafiyev was in Edmonton, where he met with the Honorable Verlyn Olson, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Honorable Cal Dallas, Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations. During the meetings, the sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Alberta, specifically in the areas of agriculture and oil & gas.

Ambassador Shafiyev also visited CANMET Energy Technology Centre, Canadian leader in clean energy research and technology development, and discussed potential collaboration opportunities between CANMET and Azerbaijan’s various research institutions.

Mr. Shafiyev also held meetings at the departments of Engineering and Biological Sciences of the University of Alberta. During the meetings, the parties discussed cooperation opportunities between the University of Alberta and the universities in Azerbaijan, as well as exchanged views on the possibility of organizing mutual visits for students and teachers.
