Azerbaijani veterans send felicitation letter to US State Secretary
Azerbaijani veterans of WW II sent a congratulatory letter to US Secretary of State John Kerry.
The letter signed by chairman of the National Council of Veterans Bakhishov states: “On behalf of all veterans of Azerbaijan we cordially congratulate you on the start of your activity on a new post – Secretary of State of the United States of America.
Despite the four resolutions on unconditional withdrawal from the occupied territories adopted by the UN Security Council in 1993, the resolutions of other major international organizations, the world recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, international conventions and specific proposals of the OSCE Minsk Group, consistent activity of the Azerbaijani government in this direction, the aggression launched by Armenia in the late 1980s continues today. Occupied cities and villages, educational and cultural, historical and spiritual values were destroyed and obliterated and really fascist crimes were committed. The ceasefire agreement reached between the two countries is violated by Armenia, while the number of war victims is growing.
Dear friends!
This happens because the Minsk Group co-chairs are seeking to solve the conflict peacefully equally regarding the occupant and the victim.
Making use of the protraction of the conflict, the Armenian leadership continues its occupation policy and tries to falsify history, deepen discrimination on national basis, breed up the youth in the spirit of enmity with the neighbor states, strives to transfer its insidious intentions to the future generations. The proof is the speech of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan at the meeting with the journalists in Horadiz, the young people in Tsakhkadzor) the real name in Azerbaijani is Garachichek), as well as the session of the Council of heads of CIS states in Dushanbe, settlement of Armenians living in numerous countries in the occupied territories contrary to the repeated warnings of the assessment mission of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
We, the veterans of the Second World War, are watching the negotiations, see the non-constructive position of Armenia, as a result of which, two nations-Azerbaijanis and Armenians suffer from this conflict. All the same, being aware better than anyone what war is, we also want the peaceful settlement to the conflict. No one can deny that Azerbaijanis always differed for their peace-loving nature, internationalism and tolerance. People residing in our country, regardless of their national and religious belonging enjoy equal rights. After in 1828 Armenians were settled in Nagorno-Karabakh from Iran, Azerbaijanis always lived in friendship with them and were a support for them. No doubt: if the conflict is settled, whatever Armenian Nazis will do to pursue their goals, intimidating their people and in any possible occasion terminating its wise representatives and even ordinary people, Azerbaijanis and Armenians will restore the traditions of the past.
Dear gentlemen!
The soonest resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh requires your political will, decisive measures for the resolutions of the UN Security Council, other international organizations about unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from Azerbaijani lands. There is no other way out. The protraction of the conflict does not meet the interests of the peoples of region, and it promotes the interests of aggressor and separatist circles.
66 years have passed since the Second World War. We, the war veterans, whose number is reducing rapidly, fulfilling our last and sacred duty, are addressing You with a request to put an end to the unfair Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh”.
